Shadow over Aeldia
The Elves or Ironbark Forest had long fought the Orcish tribes of the Northern Reaches encroaching upon their land. While on a raid against the Orcs of the Black Moons Clan, an Elven ranger named Dahtoud stumbled across a half-orc baby. Unwilling to kill a newborn, even an Orcish one, Dahtoud took the child back with him against the protests of his companions. Arguing his case to the High Council of Telis’Amar, the elves agreed to let him raise the half-orc under strict supervision. Back at home, Dahtoud named the half-orc Dachande which translates to “Broken Tusk" as the baby had one fractured tusk.
Growing up in an Elven community, Dachande had a relatively peaceful childhood for a half-orc. He made few friends amongst the Elven children as they had been raised to believe Orcs are their mortal enemy. However, half-orcs mature far more quickly than Elves, and by his 10th birthday Dachande was already larger than almost every Elf in the village. Sensing the distrust the younger elves had for his adopted son, Dahtoud took it upon himself to teach Dachande the ways of the ranger.
For five years Dahtoud and Dachande lived outside of Telis’Amar, isolated from the rest of the community. Strange as it was, Dachande took quickly to the lessons Dahtoud laid out for him. Though he learned about the world, the flora, the beasts, and the weather, the lessons Dachande took to most quickly were those of combat. By the age of 15 Dachande was fully grown and twice the size of any elf, though not as light-footed or quick. Utilizing his great size and strength, Dachande trained in dual wielding a weapon that felt natural to him; the battle axe. By the end of their five year isolation Dahtoud declared that Dachande was a fully trained ranger, and both master and student returned to Telis’Amar.
For the next two years Dachande resided in Telis’Amar. He became a member of the ranger corps and was eventually accepted as one of their own. His great strength, toughness, and valor were applauded throughout the ranks of the rangers. He assisted his adopted people against various monster tribes until one fateful day when they encountered a marauding group of ogres. Although the elves were victorious, Dahtoud was mortally wounded. Shortly after the death of his adoptive father and best friend, he petitioned the High Council to leave the village in search of his place in the world. They agreed, and Dachande left the forest and headed to the human kingdom of Aeldia in search of his destiny.
